Mawazine 2013!

NEWS Established in 2001, the Festival Mawazine World Rhythms invites prestigious musical talent each year to perform live. For the eleventh edition which runs from 24th May to 1st June, 2013, the association managed to confirm singers Rihanna, Jessie J, Mika, Deep Purple, David Guetta, Tamer Hosny and others.

The gorgeous Rihanna will be the first artist to take the stage of the OLM souissi on Friday 24th May. The concert will mark the opening of the 12th edition of the Mawzine and is part of her world tour, Diamonds. The first evening at the sports complex will be dedicated to Moulay Abdellah, who was dedicated to Ghiwani rythms with three bands; Siham Group, Jil Ghiwane  Jalal and slaouie Ghiwane Salwan. 

The Chellah stage will be linked to the Silk Road (which is in memory of all the trade routes that were linked for centiries to Asia and Europe). The audience will travel through eight countries represented by artists and various world cultures. The opening of this program on Saturday 25th May will be opened by one of the most beautiful voices in Italy, Sicilian singer Patrizia Laquidara. 

Mawazine 2012

On 26th May 2012, the American singer Mariah Carey was present at the festival where great artists from all four corners of the world also attended. Mawazine rised to the occassion of combining music, culture and artists. Last year the public watched American band, Evanescence, LMFAO, Pitbull and Lenny kravitz, as well as Jamaican Jimmy Cliff and French DJ Abdel. 

To ensure its place among the major festivals in the world, the lineup this year is likely to delight even the Moroccan public. The first to have confirmed their presence was British singer, Jesse J, of the famed 2012 hit song, Price Tag, the concert is within her tour where she will perform all the hits of her debut album Who you are. Mika, who was alos present in 2010, will return this year and one of the biggest rock bands, Deep Purple, will also be present. While they are on tour to promote their 19th album, they will stop in Rabat to sing their old and new songs, a first in an Arab country for the group. Rising Moroccan singer Hoda Saad will also be present and the prince of Arab music, Tamer Hosny.
