MUSIC Initiated in 2006, the Caravan Generation Mawazine will be searching the cities of Morocco, a few months before the launch, for tomorrow’s talent.
After Agadir, Marrakech and Rabat, Fez was the next stop, the caravan hit the road on March 24th. In the imperial city, 24 groups of rap artists, electro, pop and fusion showcased their talents infront of a professional jury, headed by Ahmed Aidoune, musicologist and researcher. The public could then attend a concert of the winners of the previous editions of Generation Mawazine, including a fusion of hip hop groups, Rwapa Crew, Gnawa stone and AZ Flow.
The next step before the quarter final on March 31st in Casablanca, in Zefzaf complex, 29 groups of electronic music, fusion, rap and rock were the last to be cast. A big concert is organized in the city after the selections, given by the groups Babel Rwapa Crew, Chemical Bliss and vocalist Muna Roukachi.
In total in 2012, 415 acts have been selected out of 1200 candidates, including 18 girls.
In the semi-final on April 14th, six groups were selected for the final on April 21st, in Rabat. “killing the game” Khemisset (rock), “Crutch and stones” of Rabat (fusion), “ Melimane” Mohammedia (pop and blues), “Hinder minds” from Casablanca ( rock), “X-Familly” Rabat ( Rap) and “ Ghazali” El Jadida ( electro).
All results will be posted on the official website of Generation Mawazine, so the public can vote via SMS for their favorite artist, only one artist will make the final cut this year.
